What’s
Coming Up
For The Hunter Tour?

I
just met with the promoter of a large liquor company that wants to hold
qualifiers in at least 4 of the Hunter Tour stops this year.
They will pay the entries of 1 and possibly 2 ladies for an up-coming
WPBA
event to be held in Austin in early 1999. Since they are putting in a
considerable
amount of money into our tour, they will probably have some
representatives
at those tournaments.
This additional sponsor will in no way affect our relationship with Wes
Hunter (name sponsor of the Hunter Tour), nor will it affect the
pay-out
in the field. What it does mean, is that 1 or 2 of our
top-placing
ladies in 4 tournaments will earn their way into the WPBA
tournament. It also means we are about to take a huge step into
the
money by having another sponsor who may be interested in putting more
money
into our tour next year.
It is with that in mind that I ask each of you to voluntarily step up
your
dress code. You know I am one of the first who wants to (and
does)
play in jeans, polo shirt and tennis shoes, but I think it's worth it
for
the continued growth our tour for me to dress up on Saturday and
Sunday.
One way to garner a corporate sponsor's attention is to improve our
appearance.
Well, ladies, now is your chance! This is not mandatory.
Jeans
are still allowed, but lets watch the
t-shirts
and faded jeans. All shirts (if they are not a blouse or sweater)
should have collars and that will be enforced by the June event.
If you do not know what is appropriate, let me name some names: Orietta
Strickland, Carrie Hickman, Deanna Kniola, Cathy Jo Sawyer, Candi Rego,
Heather Pulford, Melinda Bailey, and June Walter and many others that I
can't remember right now.
If you subscribe to Pool &
Billiard
you probably noticed that the Hunter Tour was left out of the article
on
regional tours. I don't know how this could have happened since
we
are the largest and oldest tour, but it was. See my letter in the
next issue, if they put it in.
