Director's
Corner (1998):
The
Hunter Classics Amateur Women's Tour was formed by Cuemaker Wes Hunter
and Susan Dasher in January, 1993. It is the largest women's regional tour
in America and it consists of a series of stops throughout the southwest.
Wes Hunter provides a $1,600.00 custom cuestick for the host site to raffle
which is Fed-Ex’ed by Susan Dasher's law office to the host site 5-6 weeks
in advance of the event.
Because
of her love for pool and desire to having a forum in which women of all
skill levels could compete Susan Dasher was the driving force behind the
Hunter Tour and did all of the work through 1997. In 1998 she asked
for help and several long-time members volunteered. The Tour has grown
and is still evolving, so if you notice a void, please be sure to let one
of us know and most likely you will be put in charge of filling it (that's
how we got the web pages). All of the members that have agreed to help
have made an impact on the Hunter Tour and are helping take it into the
21st century.
Starting
in 1998...the women behind the Hunter Tour:
Dora
Valdez -- Tour coordinator. She sets up the year's calendar, calls
host sites for commitments on tournaments and dates, obtains information
about local hotels and the equipment available at the host site, designs
the annual flyer format and updates it for each event, and mails flyers
to host site.
Susan
Dasher -- Tournament director. She maintains the Hunter Tour mailing
list and sends the updates to the Women's Professional Billiard Association,
she also pays all expenses including the tour's regional membership fee
to the WPBA, shipping expenses, copy paper, envelopes and stamps for mailing,
and copy supplies.
Shelly
Barnes -- Tour Reporter. She writes the article containing the results
of each event and information about the next event and sends it to the
American Cueist and Billiard News for publication.
Shayla
Neris -- Webmistress, Hunter Tour web page. She and Melinda Bailey
maintain the Tour's web site, update it with current Tour and player information,
photos and links to other pool sites of interest to Tour members, hand
out fan mail and send back replies.
Melinda
Bailey - Webmistress, Hunter Tour web page. See description above.
She also distributes the newsletters which means she's the one who collates,
folds, stuffs and seals envelopes, sticks labels and stamps on them and
mails them.
Kathy
Cobb -- Webmistress, Hunter Tour link site. The original web site.
She takes photos, obtains names of photographed players, interviews players,
adds current information to the Hunter Tour web link and maintains links
to other pool sites of interest to Tour members.
Melinda,
Shayla and Kathy all interview participants, take photos and videos of
the tournament and coordinate with Dora and Susan for updates to the Hunter
Tour web pages.
