Line Kjoersvick
from Norway put up a pretty good fight all weekend to walk away with the $1000
first place prize along with a WPBA qualifier for the Prescott event.
Melanie Koger had a remarkable weekend working her way through the loser's
bracket, and beating Julie Mason 9-3 for the hot seat. Melanie went back
to Ft. Worth with $600 in her pocket for second place. After taking 5th
place in the Gentleman Jack Great Dallas Shoot Out WPBA event a couple of weeks
ago, Julie Mason took 3rd place and $400! Congrats to all the women who
played this weekend. The caliber of everyone's game has been improving
tremendously! Keep up the good work ladies!
The stop
was held in Rio Rancho, NM at Slate Street Billiards. For those of
you that do not know, Rio Rancho is a small town just on the outskirts
of Albuquerque.
29 women
from Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Denver, and even other countries showed
up to play in the Hunter Tour. Wes
Hunter also made a special appearance at this stop.
He was selling cues, conditioning shafts, and replacing tips on cues all
weekend long. Wes Hunter also donates a custom made cue retailed
at $1600 to every stop to be raffled off. Remember ladies to thank
Wes when you see him. As a side note, Wes makes a great cue,
and quite a few women on the Hunter Tour play with his cue. Visit
his website where you can learn more about his cues, or even e-mail Wes
directly.
Special
thanks to staff of Slate Street Billiards who did a remarkable job all
weekend. Their deli is great! Also, thanks to Rachel
and Charlotte who ran both the main event tournament and the second chance
tournament. The tournament ran smoothly both days. These ladies
may be recruited again next year to run the tournament since they did a
great job!
The second
chance tournament had 12 women play in it. Julie Kelly took home
$60 for first place, Pam Cipolla took home $35 for second place, and newcomer
April Kelley took home $25 for third place. These women played great.
This was April's first Hunter event, and got in the money! This young
woman of Albuquerque is someone to definitely look out for in the future!
Congrats to all who played!
